Millenia Evap Operating Instructions

Important Safety Instructions
Please read these instructions before assembling the cooler and keep for future reference.
This Evaporative Air Cooler is not intended for use by children or infirm persons
without supervision. Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the evaporative air cooler.

CAUTION!
Check Voltage – Before connecting you electrical power cord to the power outlet, check that the cooler voltage will be stated on the rating label at the rear of the cooler.

To Assemble the Cooler

  1. Push the four castors into their locating holes in the base. Use a rotating motion to assist in the entry of the steel spring ring
  2. Assemble the front and rear pillars and screw together. Place this assembly on the base and slide into position until it locks.
  3. Place the reservoir of the cooler onto the front pillar as shown. Tilt downwards towards the rear until the reservoir locks onto the rear pillar.
  4. To remove the unit from the pillars, use a screwdriver in the two recesses in the rear of the reservoir to release the clips. Tilt the unit forward to remove.

How to get the Best Cooling Performance

  1. Place the cooler with its back near to an open window or door so it can draw in 100% fresh air
  2. Open another window or door on the opposite side of the room for ‘’flow through’’ ventilation. This cooler will not cool properly in a closed room

Filling with Water

  1. Turn the cooler off before filling
  2. Open the water filling door and pour in clean water.
  3. The water capacity is 14 litres. The minimum amount of water needed for the pump to operate is 2 litres
  4. The cooler is full when the water level indicator is in the FULL position. Do not overfill, as water will spill out of the cooler
  5. NOTE: The cooler and pump will not be damaged if operated without water.

Using the Cooler

  1. When this appliance is used as an air cooler, it should be filled with water and the cool / drain knob turned to COOL position
  2. Low Fan Speed is selected for the quietest operation
  3. High Fan Speed is selected for maximum cooling
  4. Fan only (Ventilation). This cooler may be used as a fan only. Set the cool / drain knob to position ‘0’

Conditioning of the Aspen Cooling Pad
To get the best performance from your cooler, we recommend that when first used it is run with water for at least 10 minutes at the setting COOL and Fan Speed 2. During this process the water becomes slightly yellow, and there is a natural smell of damp wood. This is normal.

Air Direction Control

  1. The cooler is provided with air guide vanes which can be adjusted as required to direct the airflow
  2. The Millenia is adjusted manually by sliding the levers on the front panel

Safety Instructions
As the cooler contains water, ensure it is moved carefully and not tilted, as water may spill out.

Cleaning the Cooler
IMPORTANT – Always switch off and remove the electrical plug before cleaning and servicing the cooler.

  1. To clean, wipe the cooler with a damp cloth and a little household detergent
  2. The rear panel can be removed to gain access to inside the cooler by removing the screws at the top of each side
  3. Pivot the panel backwards and lift off

Maintenance
At least once a year at the end of the summer season it is advisable to do some simple maintenance on your cooler to maintain high efficiency. This involves cleaning the water system and the Aspen Cooling Pad.

To Drain Water
Water can be drained from the cooler by turning the cool knob to the DRAIN position and the fan knob to ‘2’ position.
Water may also be drained by removing the drain plug at the rear of the cooler

Water Strainer and Aspen Cooling Pad
Clean the water strainer by removing any foreign matter. Wash the Aspen cooling pad with water while it is still in the rear panel. Replace the pad if it is worn or deteriorated.

Trouble Shooting

CONDITION

POSSIBLE CAUSE

SOLUTION

The cooler will not operate at first

Power outlet or supply faulty

Switch on the power outlet

Check the power supply

Check the power outlet

Wrong voltage

Check that the power supply is the same as specified on the rating label

Cooler stops operating after running for some time

Motor may have overheated (Safety cut-out)

Wait 30-45 minutes for the motor to cool down and it will restart automatically. If condition persists, call London Cool on 0800 440 444

No cooling

Cooling control is off

Turn cool knob to COOL

Reservoir is empty or nearly empty

Fill with water until the water level indicator is at the FULL position. Water capacity is 14 litres

Weather is too humid

Turn cool knob to 0 and use cooler as a fan only

Aspen cooling pad and / or pump inlet screen is blocked or dirty

Clean parts. (See maintenance section)

Pump is not working properly

The pump is NOT a separate electric pump. It is connected to the fan motor and is driven mechanically. Turn the cooler off and completely drain the reservoir. Refill with water. Switch fan knob to high speed (3), turn the cool knob to COOL and run the cooler for 10-15 minutes non-stop. This will help to dissolve and flush out the dirt. The Aspen cooling pad should now be wet. If the pad is not visibly wet and there is no cooling, call London Cool on 0800 440 444

Fan / pump not running fast enough on low speed

Check that supply voltage is up to correct level

Fan and pump will pick up speed slightly as the motor reaches normal operating temperature. Allow the cooler to run for 30-60 minutes and check again. If there is no improvement have the cooler checked by London Cool on 0800 440 444

Cooler makes a bad smell

The reservoir or Aspen cooling pad is dirty

Drain the reservoir and fill the cooler with clean water. If it still smells clean the reservoir or replace the Aspen Cooling Pad.

Water overflows from the reservoir

Too much water in the reservoir
